On May 10, a promotion event was held for the "Proceedings of the China-Austria Moral Economics Seminar". The importance of this event obviously goes without saying.

In May 2016, my country's State Administration of Religious Affairs and the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-organized the event in Vienna. This is a seminar with the theme of "Tao Te Ching".

This location was chosen with great ingenuity and is located in Vienna, the capital of Austria. Vienna, as an important hub for cultural exchanges, carries rich history and significance.

This is the first time that government departments from both sides have worked together. At the same time, the political, academic and educational circles have also joined in to jointly organize a seminar focusing on my country's traditional culture.

At that time, more than 20 scholars and Taoist priests from China and Austria participated in the event.

This unique combination has laid a diverse and broad foundation for cultural exchanges between China and Austria.

The seminar, held in Austria, shows the growing interest in the Western world in the traditional Eastern philosophical work "Tao Te Ching".

This collection of essays is the outcome of the dialogue between China and Austria on the Tao Te Ching.

This document is available in both Chinese and German versions. This fact reflects the continuous efforts and careful arrangements made by China and Austria in the field of cultural exchanges.

These two versions will allow the people of China and Austria to have a deeper understanding of the research results and thoughts of the Tao Te Ching. They help enhance the understanding and communication of the Tao Te Ching between the two peoples.

At the seminar, scholars conducted a detailed analysis of multiple viewpoints in the Tao Te Ching. These research results have been compiled into a collection of papers to facilitate more people to study and research.

Since the 16th century, Westerners have begun to translate various texts. Today, the number of foreign language translations has exceeded 500, involving more than 40 different languages.

The head of the French Taoist Association, Taoist Master Jing Xiu, started careful preparations half a month ago and planned to give a speech entitled "Taoist Dream" at the forum.

Martin Peng, a British Sinology expert, has studied Taoism for more than 40 years. Not only did he personally visit important Taoist holy places in my country, such as Mount Qingcheng in Sichuan and Baiyun Temple in Beijing, he also had frequent exchanges with many Taoist scholars in China and jointly explored the profound aspects of Taoism.

Through their unremitting efforts, they have promoted the spread and development of Taoist thought internationally, and the wisdom of the Tao Te Ching has also made more Westerners aware of it.

Ms. Teresa Injern serves as Director of the General Department of Culture of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She mentioned that the "Tao Te Ching" predicted many views of the international community as early as two thousand years ago. These views are particularly profound when viewed through the eyes of good government leaders.

This shows that the "Tao Te Ching" is not only beneficial to improving personal moral character, but also has guiding value for macro-thoughts on government governance.

The current international situation is complex and ever-changing. The ideas of harmonious coexistence and conformity to nature expounded in the Tao Te Ching have a certain enlightening effect on countries' understanding of international relations.
